Job description

The successful candidate will work with other developers in the IT team where you will design and implement new systems for use by staff, customers and suppliers. As Software Developer, you will join a growing team where you will design and implement new systems for use by many staff, customers and suppliers.

Working as part of a small team, you will be developing and maintaining Front End and Back End software features for the company's products/appliances in line with product development roadmap as defined by the Head of Engineering and guided by the
Software Development Team Leader.

With support, you will be expected to set up your own machine and development environments, and be expected to quickly get up
to speed and hit the ground running. You will be expected to work in an Agile (SCRUM) development environment.

Responsibilities:

Specification, design, development and maintenance of advanced user facing features and Back End APIs for complex Real Time and systems.
Database design in collaboration with other team members.
Conducting code reviews as per the company standards.
Active participation in the team's Agile (SCRUM) development process and other company-wide processes.
Engage in effective collaboration among geographically distributed team members.

Required Skills:

  • Software development using Ruby, HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript.
  • Good understanding of libraries, frameworks and tools such as Rails, Sinatra, DataMapper, RSpec, PrototypeJS.
  • Exposure to developing against relational databases. In particular, exposure to PostgreSQL is handy.
  • Good understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues
  • You must be a good team player.
  • You must be well-organised with good attention to detail.

As a BI Visualisation Specialist - Visualisation Specialist - Data Designer - UI Designer - Dashboard and Report Designer - Data User Interface Designer - Tableau Data Visualisation Specialist - Data Specialist you will be tasked to design, develop, implement and deliver solutions to solve basic to complex problems. You will collaborate with business and technology leaders to identify key business requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Tasked to help to develop and manage the Tableau semantic layer through reusable data sources
  • Design specs for BI Front End applications including dashboards and reporting, considering appropriate data flows and capture
  • Work closely with the Data Architecture team and provide technical design recommendations on the data warehouse structures which support analytical applications
  • Develop a formal release cycle and publishing strategy in the Tableau environment

What I'm looking for:

  • Data Specialist will have excellent BI technology skills, ideally within Tableau 
  • Relational database knowledge
  • Big Data experience ie Hadoop is a plus
  • Experience in dashboard and report development
