Job description

The successful candidate will work with other developers in the IT team where you will design and implement new systems for use by staff, customers and suppliers. As Software Developer, you will join a growing team where you will design and implement new systems for use by many staff, customers and suppliers.

Working as part of a small team, you will be developing and maintaining Front End and Back End software features for the company's products/appliances in line with product development roadmap as defined by the Head of Engineering and guided by the
Software Development Team Leader.

With support, you will be expected to set up your own machine and development environments, and be expected to quickly get up
to speed and hit the ground running. You will be expected to work in an Agile (SCRUM) development environment.

Responsibilities:

Specification, design, development and maintenance of advanced user facing features and Back End APIs for complex Real Time and systems.
Database design in collaboration with other team members.
Conducting code reviews as per the company standards.
Active participation in the team's Agile (SCRUM) development process and other company-wide processes.
Engage in effective collaboration among geographically distributed team members.

Required Skills:

  • Software development using Ruby, HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript.
  • Good understanding of libraries, frameworks and tools such as Rails, Sinatra, DataMapper, RSpec, PrototypeJS.
  • Exposure to developing against relational databases. In particular, exposure to PostgreSQL is handy.
  • Good understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues
  • You must be a good team player.
  • You must be well-organised with good attention to detail.

Data Analyst/MI Analyst - Financial Services

Our North Yorkshire based Financial Services client require an experienced Data Analyst/MI Analyst to define the business's data migration and data mapping requirements as part of a major system migration. 6 month contract - £375 to £475 per day. 

This Analyst will need to be able define a full set of requirements for the client to understand their required data migration and data mapping needs as part of a major system transformation

Therefore the successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

- Extensive experience of undertaking Data Analyst or MI Analyst roles
- An outstanding knowledge of data migrations and data mapping
- Extensive Financial Services experience
- Experience of delivering requirements and supporting major system/platform migrations programmes
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and suppliers
