Job description

We are currently working with a financial organisation based in Newcastle, who are looking to build a brand new dynamic Technical Support team that will be responsible for the support of key business applications and infrastructure, as well as acting as an internal consultancy for the business.

Key responsibilities:

·         Provide the business with high-level technical support, working closely with the already established application support team.

·         Provide technical support for the organisations core banking components - API/EBS Platform, Databases, Identity Access Management and banking sub-systems.

·         Service availability and drive problem resolution management.

·         Look at entire infrastructure and Middleware layers to identify log issues, diagnose issues and then resolve issues.

·         Use Linux commands to test suspicion of malformed requests.

·         Incident, Problem and Change Management.

Key experience:

·         Very strong experience of working within a hands-on technical support role with the inclusion of experience in handing off issues to internal development and third party support functions.

·         Strong experience of supporting high availability applications and services.

·         Strong route cause analysis experience via Log Files and Logging Platform Analysis.

·         Knowledge of RESTful APIs, API Platforms, ESB Platforms, API Security and Web Services.

·         Strong knowledge of Linux.

·         Strong knowledge of JSON.

·         Scripting and Monitoring experience.

·         Proactive Incident, Problem and Change management.

·         CMDB experience.

Job description

Data Analyst who has solid commercial experience working with SQL Server / Excel / ETL / Data Migration / Data Modelling. There is a real opportunity to progress with in a growing team and gain experience with different technologies.

Our client is looking for a dynamic and high performing Data Analyst to maintain the Configuration Management Data Base (CMDB) that supports the In Service Support (ISS) of a major IT programme, and to support a fast moving schedule of software and hardware renewals.

The CMDB Data Analyst will report to the ISS Configuration Manager. The role will require good interpersonal skills and high levels of energy and a willingness to work with multiple suppliers and stakeholder to confirm requirements and licencing status, and implementing disciplined Information Management practices. The work location will be in may require occasional visits to other customer sites.

Main Duties:

  • Maintain the CMDB in accordance with the ISS Configuration Management System
  • Create and Maintain Configuration Management (CM) and Data management (DM) Plans, capture all relevant CM and DM requirements required by the Programme
  • Administer Configuration and Data management in support of allocated company contracts in line with Standard Processes and Practices, customer requirements as required by the relevant programme Security requirements
  • Ensure Configuration and Data Management compliance with Military and Commercially recognised standards
  • Support the Programme by establishing and maintaining a regime for CM and DM with the customer and Subcontractor (Where applicable) including a schedule for Customer and Subcontractor reviews and regularly report on progress
  • Support Engineering to correctly identify HW (Hardware) and SW (Software) Configuration Items using a recognised PDM tool in a relational and hierarchical manner. Maintain CM baselines of both HW and SW throughout the design life cycle of products
  • Perform Data Management, Issue and control programme artefacts including documentation control for Customer and Company artefacts in a suitable Data Management repository in support of the business requirements
  • Archive, utilise Company and Programme specific repositories
  • Create, maintain and store appropriate programme historical build data as defined within the relevant Programme Configuration and Data management plans throughout the design life cycle of products
  • Administer Configuration Control, Chair the Configuration Control Boards, at Programme level, attend and facilitate Joint CCBs and LTCs where necessary. Establish and agree with all necessary parties classification and sentencing of change
  • Create, Issue and maintain Configuration Status Records and the Configuration Status Account in support of the business and Programme specific requirements
  • Support ISS Configuration Manager in engaging with stakeholders and tracking changes to configuration across the enterprise
  • Ensure supporting documentation and licences are stored and accessible in accordance with IM and security policy
  • Initiate renewal requests and support the renewals process as directed by the ISS Configuration Manager
  • Produce reports and data as required
  • Create, Issue and maintain Configuration Status Records and the Configuration Status Account in support of the business and Programme specific requirements

Essential Requirements:

  • You will a detailed working knowledge of Military and Commercial CM standards and ISO 9001
  • You will be able to effectively interface and communicate with multiple levels of management and colleagues in other engineering disciplines
  • Experience in the ability to manage a complex task involving multiple sites multiple systems and multiple user and customer interfaces
  • Experience of establishing and implementing processes and training of the Principles of CM and DM
  • Working knowledge of CM and DM applied to Hardware and Software development programmes
  • Able to integrate and work within a team
  • Willingness to work out of hours and travel on an occasional basis
  • Experience of working under ITIL processes
  • Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification with a demonstrable industrial experience in Configuration Management or experience working in a technical environment interfacing with systems, software, hardware or test engineering disciplines
  • Experience establishing, developing and implementing Configuration Management processes and training, such as Planning, configuration change management and control, identification, configuration status accounting and baseline control, data library/repository, product release and delivery, and configuration audits
  • Experienced with Microsoft office tools advanced features: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access or other database experience requiring schema definition and data manipulation
  • Working knowledge of CM and DM requirements within the Engineering Development Life Cycle

Desirable Requirements:

  • CMII Certification
  • Detailed working knowledge of Def Stan 05-57, 05-123 and ISO 10007
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the generation and presentation of briefing packages to program management and customers
  • Self-motivated attitude - able to work functionally alone in a programme team to meet programme requirements
  • Ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision
  • Experience of ITAR regulations
  • Proficient in evaluation of program documents for impact to CM processes
  • Experience of Process Improvement Initiatives and techniques
  • Ability to work independently and to ensure that Key Performance indicators are met
