Job description

The objective of the role will be to work within the testing team, supporting the BAT Test Programme Manager to deliver reliable, innovative and effective testing activities to ensure the business needs on time, budget and quality are met across the Transformation and Small Change portfolios.

What is the purpose of this role?

This water Utilities Company based in the Thames Valley is looking for a test manager whose duties are on the coordination of all testing activities during every stage of the test process on the MDMS (Meter Data Management System) Programme, as well as coordination with the alliance partner Test Manager. Authoritative guidance and advice to the test team is an important aspect of the job, as is advising on the practicality of the project.

What makes this role unique?

This role will deliver the test strategy and test management of a team of IS test team leads (x4) and 20 test agents. The role will also set up standardised testing for this water utilities company

What will this role involve?

Main Tasks

Conducting test performance reviews

Maintaining and improving testing roles

Facilitating development of test scripts

Evaluating training and development needs of testers

Managing tests from end to end

Developing testing strategies and gaining approval from the Test Assurance Team within the TTA.

Setting up test schedules

Documenting tests findings and completion report into CAB

Supervising test teams

Role

To understand the regulatory framework within which the co's changes are developed, tested and deployed and to be an expert on the co's test assurance obligations.

To work with the co; its service providers; service users and regulatory bodies to document the test strategy and approach for future Releases

To support consultations and address any comments arising from them

To collate responses from Test Assurance in support of SEC Modifications

To develop and maintain a Test Assurance obligations register and monitor compliance with it

To document and maintain the processes by which test artefacts are produced and the template documents and to educate the co's staff in best practice in these activities

To support members of the co by reviewing test artefacts to ensure that they are clear and meet the regulatory needs.

Skills and Experiences Essential

A skilled wordsmith/technical author that is experienced in producing regulatory documents and materials

Has worked in a pressurised project environment and produced documentation to time and quality

Experience in capturing diverse viewpoints and supporting their resolution

Experienced in the testing and assurance of complex systems and processes

Experienced in documenting processes and producing proforma documents

A strong communicator, skilled at listening and with an ability to explain and document needs clearly.

A skilled user of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

Skills and Experiences Desirable

Experience in working across a multi-organisation environment, operating across multiple locations

Experience of working in a complex programme that is committed to delivery

Experience of smart metering or working in a regulated environment

Keenness and ability to identify and propose process improvements
